On Rt 311, just 3 miles south of New Castle, sits Carper’s Bar and Grill. The convenience store shifted gears recently. There’s no gas or lottery but a delicious surprise is in store. Across from Zimmerman’s Equipment, find the only bar and restaurant in Craig County.
Owned and operated by Rob and Linda Carper, this new watering hole aims to provide a welcoming space for friends and families to gather, enjoy a meal, and catch a game. With a focus on creating a community-oriented atmosphere, the Carpers have equipped their establishment with 12 taps pouring a variety of beers and cider, as well as a menu featuring locally inspired bar food. Multiple screens ensure that patrons can easily keep up with their favorite sports teams while enjoying a delicious meal. “We’ve got the NFL Sunday Ticket for all the games, Monday and Thursday night, too,” stated Rob Carper.
The generous parking lot is ready for game day, along with the selection of subs and wraps, pizza, salads, sandwiches, wings and specialty burgers on the menu. The Craig County, Lil Cuba and The Rocket AKA Smash Burger are just a few of the creations to tempt your tastebuds. “All the wing sauces are made here, my recipes,” said Linda Carper. Plans for Couples Nights, steak nights and other food events are in the works. “We bring people together,” shared the Carpers.
While Craig County is still experiencing the last days of summer, the back deck is open for outdoor seating. Live music will be available some nights and happy hours are planned soon. In these shifting times, a hometown place to gather with friends and family is a much needed destination. Carper’s Bar and Grill is a convenient place for locals and visitors to stop in and enjoy a meal.
Watch for grand opening announcements and live music schedules as Carper’s gets going. Hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to midnight, Monday 4 p.m. to midnight, closed Tuesday. The tables are set and the tubes are buzzing with the sound of energetic crowds ready to cheer their teams to victory.
