Waiteville Memorial Day Dinner to be held on May 26

The Waiteville Community Center’s (WCC) annual Memorial Day Dinner will be held on Sunday, May 26. The meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the cost will be $13 (children under 5 years of age will be free if sharing an adult’s dinner). Both dine in and take away options are available. The menu will be choice of ham or chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, roll, dessert and drink. Those who plan to purchase over five take away meals should notify Shelby Jennings at 304-772-5503 or shelbyjennings1958@hotmail.com before the day of the event. 

 

WCC is selling spring raffle tickets that include a WCC Quilt that was designed by Joyce Eppling Mundy, Janet McDaniel and Shelby Eppling Jennings. It was quilted by Linda Kenney. The raffle also includes Greenbrier Hotel activities of a gun stand shooting event for five people, a carriage ride for five people, and a fly-fishing activity for two people, which must be used by Nov. 1. Tickets are $5 for one and three for $10 with the drawing for the fly-fishing activity on May 26, the gun stand shooting and carriage ride activities on July 13, and the WCC Quilt on Nov. 11. Tickets are available from WCC Board members, at the Memorial Day Dinner, and at Farmers Day on June 8, and ongoing activities through early November. 

The Waiteville Community Center said it needs donations to continue restoration of the building. Additionally, the Waiteville Cemetery Fund needs donations to help keep the cemetery looking nice. Donations can be dropped off at the Memorial Day Dinner or mailed to: Waiteville Community Center, C/O David Furrow,3869 Waiteville Road, Waiteville, WV 24984 or Waiteville Cemetery Fund, C/O Jean Rock, 6306 Waiteville Road, Waiteville, WV  24984.
