The Craig County High baseball team will be looking to pick up their first win this week with a three game week. The Rockets were at Bland County Monday, home to Parry McCluer today and at Bath County on Friday. Parry McCluer and Bath are Pioneer District games.

Last week in New Castle visiting Eastern Montgomery scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to pull away from the Rockets and take a 6-2 win. Craig hung tough threw three innings, trailing just 3-2 at that point behind some solid pitching from Matthew Lucas. The senior righthander went five and two thirds innings, striking out seven. He allowed just four hits and one earned run before being relieved by lefty Jaycob Wolfe who finished the sixth and pitched a three up-three down top of the seventh.

The Rockets had four hits, one each from Lucas, Wolfe, Hayden Reynolds and Drew Duncan. Wolfe and Reynolds scored Craig’s runs and Duncan had an RBI. Isaiah Wente and Seth Parsons both reached base when they were hit by a pitch and Reynolds and Wolfe had stolen bases.

Next Tuesday, April 22nd, Narrows comes here for a Pioneer District game.
