Kallie Fisher bats for the Rockets in last week’s game at Glenvar. The girls will be playing in the James River Bash in Troutville this Saturday.

This will be a busy week for the Craig County baseball and softball teams in the final week before the Rockets take off for spring break.

Both the baseball and softball teams were scheduled to have their home openers on Monday against Glenvar. Results were too late for publication as both teams hoped for revenge after dropping their season openers at Glenvar a week prior.

On Thursday the varsity baseball and junior varsity softball teams will both be playing doubleheaders at Highland County. Both are scheduled to begin at 4 pm.

The softball team will be participating in the four-team James River Bash on Saturday at the Botetourt Sports Complex in Troutville. At 10 am the Rockets will play James River while Salem plays Riverheads. The two winners will play for the championship at 2 pm and the morning losers will play for third place at the same time. There will also be jayvee games at noon and 4 pm but Craig County is not participating in the jayvee event.

This week will be the last games for Craig County teams until after next week’s spring break.
