When children see Santa, their eyes tend to get wide and a large grin makes its way across their faces.
The Craig County Public Library joined CHIP and Lasterday to host their annual visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Saturday, Dec. 9.
The atmosphere was filled with glee and laughter.
While some kids were visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, others were enjoying their cocoa and cookies in the Lasterday dining area.
Families seemed to covet a time like this with their little ones, just chilling out and watching their kids get filled with a bit of joy at Christmastime.
The library staff sent out a “GIANT” thank you to all that joined them at the event.
“We loved seeing the kiddos coming in smiling all nice and clean in their Christmas best and leaving with chocolate chip cookie smears on their little faces!” they shared with laughter. “Mr. and Mrs. Claus came ALLLLLL the way from the North Pole with an elf in tow to see the kids in Craig County! But the word must have gotten out because the Grinch showed up too!”
Every child at the event received a free cookie, cup of hot cocoa, a goodie bag full of all kinds of Christmas items, a stuffed animal and a picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The entire event and gifts were free to the kids.
“Again, we are thankful to have such a wonderful and supportive community as well as an ever- growing partnership with Lasterday Market and CHIP of the Roanoke Valley,” Library staff shared. “Thank you Lasterday for serving up some gooey, delicious chocolate chip cookies and warm hot chocolate as well as always supporting our ideas no matter how wild and crazy they may be! Also, a big thank you to CHIP of the Roanoke Valley for donating all of the wonderful stuffed animals!”
The Craig County Library is always open to new ideas for kids as well as adults in Craig. Though their area is still small, their hearts are huge.
They would love for people to “like and follow” them on Facebook to stay informed of their upcoming events and programs for children and adults.
“Remember to stop by the library during normal business hours for a free take and make Christmas Grinch craft and a budget friendly family fun December calendar!” they added.
