The wait is almost over as proprietor Dawn Perkey has been spending months on the old Briz’s building, setting up her “dream” shop and business.

She has been spending a lot of her spare time there every week, fixing, redoing things and designing her perfect place to share with Craig County.

The Lemon and Vale Cakery will open Saturday, April 22 at 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. It is located across the street from the Craig County Fairgrounds main gate side. Just a block before the bridge construction on Route 311.

“Our regular days and hours will begin on Sunday 4/23 from 10a-2p, Mondays 7:30-4pm, Fridays 7:30-4pm, Saturdays 8-4pm and closed Tuesday-Wednesday,” Perkey shared.

She is planning on having lot of her homemade baked goods, such as, cupcakes, Danishes, scones, muffins, galettes, cookies and numerous other items, and she has now partnered with Red Rooster Roasters from Floyd.

“We will be brewing a variety of their delicious coffees!” Perkey shared. “Our coffee menu consists of regular drip coffee, espresso-based drinks such as, Americanos, Breves, Lattes and Mochas, as well as Matcha and Chai tea lattes.”

They carry 14 coffee syrup flavors as well as her own signature lattes that they created featuring several local outdoor areas such as McAfee’s Knob, Dragons Tooth and one of their very own favorites, Fenwick Mines.

“We’re also very excited to offer a Mocha Magic Mushroom Latte that contains single origin un-roasted dark chocolate and an adaptogenic mushroom blend,” Perkey added. “Don’t worry, it’s not hallucinogenic or “magic” rather adaptogenic mushrooms, or herbs, are known to help our bodies manage stress and boost our immune systems. It’s practically magic.”

They have also partnered with Tractor Beverage Company to offer certified organic and non-GMO fountain beverages.

“Founded by a farmer, Tractor Beverages are uniquely crafted to bring out the best in every ingredient, in both flavor and function, “Perkey shared. “Their commitment is to create beverages with sustainably sourced ingredients free of artificial colors, sweeteners, flavors or preservatives.”

She has chosen to carry four varieties of Tractor beverages year-round which will be switched out seasonally.

Their summer Tractor beverages are: sweet tea, Mandarin Cardamom, Strawberry Dragonfruit and Farmers Punch.

During the day, Perkey said that they will also have raffles and giveaways.

“Our vision for the bakery and coffee ship is to provide not only a place for the community and passersby to stop for their morning cup of coffee and pastry, or a midday pick-me-up, but also a relaxed environment that you can enjoy good food and drinks, a place to grab and go, or sit down and unwind and catch up with a friend or a good book,” Perkey shared. “We’d like to thank not only our family and friends that have been there supporting us every step of the way, but our wonderful community that has graciously supported our dreams by cheering us on along the way.”

“We are very excited to open our doors to you all on the 22nd and look forward to seeing you all then, and the days to follow!” she added.
