Craig County residents will be heading to the polls next week.

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, voters will select from a number of local candidates.

Registered voters are encouraged to participate in the election process.

The polling precincts will be open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The sample ballot locally includes the following candidates for New Castle Town Council:

  • Mayor – J.L. (Lenny) McDonald (running unopposed)
  • Council members running (only four seats are open) – Thurman (Tommy) Zimmerman, Kimla McDaniel, Robert E. (Eddie) Lee, Robyn Foster and Karen Crush

The House of Representatives candidates are Democratic challenger Taysha DeNaughn and incumbent Republican H. Morgan Griffith.

The Craig County School Board candidate running is Kevin Altizer.

There will be same day registration if needed. One can fill out an application at the time of voting for a provisional vote.
