Jerry Wayne “Big Dog” Turner, age 66 of New Castle, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 3.
Jerry was born on September 30, 1953, in Guilford County, North Carolina, and lived in New Castle the past 16 years. He was the son of the late Richard L. and Henry Elizabeth Everhart Turner.
Jerry was a devoted husband and father. As an entrepreneur and developer, he included his family in the development, management and operations of Hide-A-Way Mobile Home Village, Just Pizza, Check Cash, and JT Septic Tank. Jerry loved bowling (he bowled two 300 games), fishing, gardening, landscaping and an old car enthusiast. He had been a member of Alamance County Jaycees.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Joe Turner; and grandma Bernie. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lutitia Brown Turner; son Jerry Jr. of Reidsville, North Carolina; daughter and son-in-law April and Mark Murray of Burlington, North Carolina; grandson, Jonathon Wesley Turner; and nieces, Jane Hogsed and Lindsey Jones.
A private service will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
