For most locals, Christmas is a highlight of the year. Each year, the annual parade kicks off the festivities of the season. This year the event will be held on Saturday, December 7, at 6 p.m. All participants are encouraged to be at the Craig County Fairgrounds no later than 5:30 p.m.

Of course, jolly ole’ Santa will be at the parade and continue at the Courthouse to hear all the kid’s wishes and give out candy to all of the boys and girls.

The Emporium General Store will be open to offer a cup of hot cocoa to everyone. Coffee will be served too.

Tim Leftwich, who is known for his charisma and wit, will be returning as the parade’s emcee this year. The Craig County High School Band may be able to make a surprise visit to the Courthouse lawn too.

Everyone is welcome to enter the parade with a float, to walk, ride in their vehicles, promote their business or just have fun in decorating their animals and sharing the holiday.

It has always been a marvelous time for all ages and as many have said, “To make a very Merry Christmas.” ‘
