Craig County Retired Teachers met for their quarterly meeting and pot luck lunch at Craig Valley Baptist Church on Monday, March 4. After a varied and delicious lunch, President Panco Cantley called the meeting to order. Joe Ann Duncan then gave a lovely devotional based on a Matthew 25:36 reminding the teachers that when they show kindness, Jesus takes it personally.

During the business meeting, retirees were pleased to find out over $300 had been collected for Kim Hendricks to shop for the two young children in their Christmas family. Jay Polln is working with the three eighth grade classes this month with Pam Dudding to write and publish selected essays titled “Why I Love Craig County” in the newspaper. Easy class will also have $20 for a drawing for all participants provided by the retired teachers. The committee was selected to pick the recipient of The Retired Teachers’ Annual Scholarship for a Craig County High School student at graduation.

Next officers were elected for the upcoming year: President Panco Cantley, Vice President Joe Ann Duncan, co-treasurers Shelby French and Jackie Cantley, Secretary Mary Ann Childress and reporter Anita Booth.

To end the meeting, Joe Ann Duncan gave the teachers a difficult “pop quiz.” The program concluded with the teachers sharing answers they not found! The next meeting, Tuesday, May 7, scholarship donations will be collected.
