Craig County football coach Mark Harrison recently started the “Rocket Barbell” club, which is open to any student at Craig County High School or Middle School.

The aim of the club is to increase the strength and fitness of Craig County athletes. Harrison made sure to say that the club is open to all students, and not just the football players.

“It’s separate from football,” he said. “It’s open to both girls and boys.”

Harrison has been working hard with the football players who aren’t currently participating in spring sports, and some who are. He’s been coming in early before school to open the weight room.

“We have a handful of kids who have been working very hard,” he said. “I’d like to see more in there once the spring sports are over.”

Mark is hoping to see a marked improvement over last year’s season, his first at Craig County.

“The Rockets are just getting started, but this season should be an interesting one because of their work ethic,” he said. “It’s a slow process but once they start getting that mentality that they can win, then we will be successful. These kids are hungry! I love it!”

Harrison will also be conducting a youth clinic on June 2nd. For more information on the Barbell Club or the Clinic contact coach Harrison at 540-309-3934.
