The Virginia High School League spring sports season will officially begin on Monday, March 12, and two Craig County teams have games scheduled for the first week of action.
The high school baseball team will open on Monday, March 12, with a game at Auburn. The Rockets’ home opener is a week later, on March 19, and it’s also against Auburn. The Rockets have a home scrimmage scheduled for this Friday, March 9, at 4:30 pm against Roanoke Valley Christian.
The softball team will open on Wednesday, March 14, with a home game against James Monroe. Elaina Wolfe-Carper is the new head coach for the Rockets. Craig will scrimmage James River on Friday in Buchanan, with the jayvees at 4:30 pm and the varsity to follow.
The new Craig County soccer team won’t open until March 19 at home, and the track team will open a day later, on March 20, at Covington.
