Wes Durham, the current play-by-play TV announcer for Fox Sports working frequently with Atlantic Coast Conference games, will be the featured speaker at the Roanoke Valley Sports Club meeting on Tuesday, February 6, at the Salem Civic Center. Meeting activities begin at 5:45 pm with the dinner at 6:00 pm.
Ever since Durham graduated from Elon College in 1988 with a degree in “Mass Communications” he has been involved with sportscasting in TV and Radio. He had stints as the radio announcer for the athletic teams at Marshall, Radford and Vanderbilt Universities, and then from 1995 through 2013 he served as the radio sports announcer for Georgia Tech.
When Durham left Georgia Tech and became a play-by-play announcer for Fox Sports, he finally reached a longtime career goal to be a sportscaster in television. He is currently also the radio sports announcer for the Atlanta Falcons.
Anyone not a member of the Sports Club and is interested in attending the meeting should call Joyce Montgomery at 354-6751, or Maggie Drewry at 353-1103 as soon as possible.
