Shelor Motor Mile offers local high schools a chance to earn cash with the Baskets for Cash event during the high school basketball season

For the 2017-2018 high school basketball season, Shelor Motor Mile will again host Baskets for Cash events at local schools. Fans will be able to earn cash for themselves and for the school.


Two participants at each game will be drawn to shoot a 3-point shot which could earn $50 for the participant and $100 for the home school. One of the participants who makes a successful 3-point shot will then get to attempt a half-court shot. If the shot is made, $500 will be given to the school. Each school has a chance to win a total of $700.

“On behalf of the Blacksburg High School Athletic Department, I want to thank Shelor Motor Mile for their continued commitment and support of our schools,” said Peter Lyell, Blacksburg High School Athletic Director. “Baskets for Cash is just another example of how Shelor works to give back to our community. It’s a fun event that gets the students and fans excited. We are looking forward to hosting it again this year.”

The following is a calendar of Baskets for Cash events at the local high schools:

Wednesday, December 20 at Floyd County High School

Monday, January 8 at Auburn High School

Monday, January 15 at Giles High School

Wednesday, January 17 at Narrows High School

Friday, January 19 at Pulaski County High School

Tuesday, January 23 at Eastern Montgomery High School

Monday, January 29 at Blacksburg High School

Thursday, February 1 at Craig County High School
