Ryan Hedgpeth, a senior from Hurt, VA and Altavista High School, was critically injured in a car accident last week in Charleston, West Virginia. Her vehicle ran off the road on Interstate 77 and flipped over several times. Ryan suffered serious injuries and is in critical condition.

The Maroons didn’t have their minds on volleyball Saturday as they dropped a three set match at Shenandoah, 25-23, 25-23 and 25-23. Alex Wolfe and Kylah Blackmore each recorded a dozen kills in the contest, Christen Zammit tallied 40 assists and Olivia Earls had 27 digs.

The Maroons were back in action Tuesday at Hollins to win in three sets, 25-15, 25-19 and 25-16. That lifted the Maroons to 9-14 overall and 5-6 in conference play. On Thursday RC will wrap up the regular season with a non-conference match at Methodist.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament begins Wednesday, November 1, at the sites of the top four seeds. The Maroons clinched a spot in the top eight with the win over Hollins but will have to open with a game on the road.
