Roanoke College senior Shannon Dishaw(#21) from Salem is recognized with her parents, Leslie and Joe Dishaw, prior to Saturday’s “Senior Day” win over Shenandoah.

Down 1-0, Roanoke tied the game at 1-1 in the 58th minute. The teams battled through the remainder of the regulation and into double overtime. With just 15 seconds remaining, the Generals countered upfield where Chandler Wickers was able to cross a pass to Megan Engleland who scored the game-winner. It was the first ODAC loss for the Maroons as RC and W&L are now both 5-1 in the conference.

Last Saturday it was “Senior Day” in Salem and Roanoke took a 2-0 win over Shenandoah. Goals were scored by Laura Sullivan and Tori Young.

With 15 minutes left in the first-half, Sullivan found the back of the net with a header off a perfectly placed corner kick by Emily Whitaker. The Maroons extended their lead at the start of the second–half on a Young goal, assisted by Ellie Schad.

Caroline Liebel made a great save on a point blank shot by Emily Yergin, which would have brought the Hornets within one goal of tying the game with 30 minutes left in regulation. Jessica Stuart just missed a goal when she hit the post on a shot attempt for the Hornets. Liebel made three stops on the day for RC.

The Maroons are on the road for their next three games with a trip to Lynchburg College on Friday, followed by a game at Randolph, in Lynchburg, on October 18 and a game at Emory on Saturday, October 21.
