Read Mountain beat Salem last year, 48-6, and last week the Stars beat Clifton Middle School, 71-8. However, Lewis is also off to a good start with two wins to open the season, including a 21-0 win over William Fleming at Salem Stadium last week. Hunter Bayne, Jeffrey Phillips and Carson Williams scored touchdowns and the defensive line played well with the unit of Nash Lakin, Reggie Brown, Cameron Martindale and Jake Massey.
The Lewis seventh grade team had no trouble with Fleming in the first game of the doubleheader, winning 46-0. On Monday the seventh graders hosted Read Mountain and battled to a 6-6 tie.
