Empowering individuals to build a stronger community
By Jay Polen
It’s officially summertime and the Craig County Library is celebrating its annual “Books and Baseball” summer program. The “baseball” part of our celebration is with the terrific cooperation with the Salem Red Sox and their great nationally known mascot, Mugsy!
The “books” part is having Preschoolers, Middle school students and High schoolers become patrons, using library books, computers, etc. This gives our younger Craig County generation a chance to learn more via entertaining and intellectual reading.
All youngsters who become patrons will be eligible for a drawing of four Red Sox general admission tickets (value approximately $40). The Red Sox home schedule is at the end of this article. Each winner may also receive an autographed Red Sox baseball.
Samantha Morgan, age 11, is the library’s first winner. Congratulations, Samantha! Andrew Thomas Musselwhite is our second winner. He just celebrated his ninth birthday and has been a Red Sox fan!
Three more drawings will be held by July 15. To all moms, dads, grandmas and granddads who bring in any child (even infants) to our great library and register: your name will become eligible for 2017 “Books and Baseball.” We’re hoping for lots of new young readers!
