The Craig County girls won one and lost two before being eliminated in the Roanoke Area Youth Softball Association 12-and-Under tournament in Salem last week.

Craig opened the tournament with a loss to Salem, but bounced back to eliminate Vinton with a win on the second day of action. On June 28, playing a third game in as many days, Craig lost to host Salem again in the losers’ bracket and was eliminated from the tournament.

The Salem team was eliminated in the next round by the South County Sluggers team. Two South County teams were set to play in the final, the Sluggers and the Thunder.

In baseball, Craig County will participate in the Dixie League District tournament at the Moyer Complex this week. Games begin on Wednesday, July 5, but opening day pairings were not set as of press time.
