The Maroons were home to Randolph College on Wednesday, and Saturday they play at Virginia Wesleyan.

The Maroons were 6-3 after nine games and coming off a nice win over Randolph Macon when things started to go south. RC dropped both games of the Susan Dunagan Holiday Classic over Christmas break, then lost their first four games of the new year, including a 73-68 loss to Bridgewater at the Cregger Center in Salem last Saturday. That dropped Roanoke’s conference record to 1-5.

Roanoke was led by Cary Beahm with 23 points and 10 rebounds while Chris Martin and Jasmine Agee came off the bench, each talling 10 points.  Bridgewater’s Briana Moore scored a game-high 27 points followed by Jessica Lam with 18. Moore tallied a team-high 10 rebounds for the Eagles as BC held a 50-39 advantage on the glass.

Jamela Foster scored back-to-back layups in the final two minutes of the second quarter to give Roanoke a 36-33 lead at the half. However, Bridgewater scored eight of the first nine points in the third quarter to take a 43-39 advantage, capped by a jumper from Lam. RC went on to close the third period with a 51-49 lead, ending with a three-point play from Molly Hassell.

With the score tied 62-62, Moore made a three-pointer followed by four foul shots to give BC the lead for good.

Last Saturday in Guilford Roanoke dropped a 62-45 decision to the Quakers in Greensboro. Guilford outscored Roanoke 35-16 during the second and third quarters.

Allison Livengood had 11 point for the Maroons. Beahm and Martin had eight points apiece and Beahm had a team-high nine rebounds to go along with seven from Livengood.
