Glenvar senior Kaley Williams takes a rip in last week’s Conference 38 softball game with James River

River’s Olivia Simmons threw a two-hitter against the Highlanders, as Abby Schoonover and Emily Teaford both singled in a scoreless third inning. River scored single runs in the each of the first four innings and held the Highlanders at bay with Simmons dominating on the mound. Simmons followed with a 5-0 shutout of Floyd in the championship game as she threw 14 goose eggs on the board for the day.

Glenvar finished with a record of 11-8. The Highlanders will graduate four seniors, Emily and Adri Teaford, Emily Anderson and Kaley Williams. Glenvar will return a strong nucleus of young players.

“I thanked the seniors and told them that they would be the bridge between one championship team and another,” said Glenvar coach Rick Street.
