“The Long Way Home” was designated as the official historical outdoor drama of the Commonwealth, and was held annually in Radford, VA from 1971-1999. The play told the story of Mary Draper Ingles’ capture, life among the Native Americans, and her eventual escape and journey over hundreds of miles through Appalachia to return to her home in the New River Valley.

On the last Sunday of every month this summer in the sunken garden at Nesselrod Bed and Breakfast this story will be retold as a historical outdoor drama with a working title of Mary Draper Ingles: A Heroine’s Journey. Dinner theater tickets will provide patrons with reserved seats at the front of the amphitheater and dinner before the performance. A limited amount of dinner tickets will be available for $45 so please purchase these in advance. General admission tickets are also available for $10 and guests are asked to bring their own chairs.

Dinner theatre or general admission tickets are available at Radford Drug, 243 W. Main Street in Radford and they accept cash or checks. Radford Drug is open 9AM-6PM Monday-Saturday and they are closed on Sundays. For credit card sales, please visit the link on the Nesselrod website, http://www.nesselrod.com/.

Advertising space is now available in the official performance program and donations are being accepted by The Long Way Home, Inc. a 501c3. For more information contact 999-1755 or maryinglesplay@gmail.com
