Salem girls take 3rd in Knights Track Classic

Te’arah Thomas finished in 5th place overall for Salem in the 100 m hurldes with a time of 18.27.

The Spartans tuned up for the meet with a run in the annual Knights Classic meet at Cave Spring last Saturday. Host Cave Spring won the boys’ title and Blacksburg took the girls’ championship. Salem’s girls were third and the boys were 12th among 20 schools competing.

Taking first places for the Salem girls were Tawni Hunt in the 400, ShaCoya Price in the triple jump and the 4×100 relay team of Hunt, Price, Te’asia Thomas and Te’arah Thomas.

Hannah Moran was second in the 1600 while ShaCoya Price was third in the long jump. Carolina Bowen was fourth in the 3,200 and Salem took two fifths, Te-arah Thomas in the 100 Hurdles and Hunt in the 100.

For the boys Sean Tyree was first in the 400m dash, second in the 200m dash and fourth in the Triple Jump. He scored all 22 of Salem’s points and was named the Outstanding Male Athlete of the meet.
