“We had a really great performance by both the boys and the girls,” said Glenvar coach Neil Swanson. “The last time Glenvar boys track took first in district or conference was when I was still in the Army stationed at Ft. Bragg 25 years ago, so I think this is pretty special for these kids.”
The boys edged out a talented Martinsville team.
“It was a great team effort by all the kids to accomplish this with the amount of talent that Martinsville had,” said Swanson.
Highlights for the boys included Kilian McCroskey with 1st in the 200 and 400, and 2nd in the 100. Brady Loder was second in the 400 and third in long jump while Dustin Wade won the 800. TJ Moorman took first in the High Jump and third in the 300 Hurdles while Hunter Walls was second in the Shot Put with a toss of 44’ 6”.
Glenvar’s 4×100 relay team of Moorman, Jack Leonard, Chris Herrington and Jacob Pomerleau took first, as did the 4×400 team of Leonard, Wade, Loder and Peyton Fletcher.
For the girls, Rachel Milirons was first in the 1600 and 3200. Third places went to Abby Cairns in the 400, Abby Fletcher in the 800 and Brooklyn Moorman in the 100 hurdles.
Next up for the Highlanders is the regional meet at Radford University on Wednesday, May 24.
