A Pulaski family of three – Amy and her two teenage children – are one step closer to walking through the front door of their new Habitat for Humanity home.

The family will join Habitat for Humanity of the New River Valley board members and staff and BAE Systems executives at 9:30 a.m. Saturday to break ground at 1101 Melborn St. in Pulaski, where the family’s new home will be built.

“The ground-breaking marks the beginning of construction, when BAE Systems employees and other community volunteers will begin working side-by-side with the family to build their three-bedroom home,” said Shelley Fortier, executive director, Habitat for Humanity of the New River Valley.

“Our employees have a strong sense of pride in family, in our community, for our country and in the facilities that have served our nation’s warfighters,” said Christopher Finley, communications and community relations manager for BAE Systems. “The employees here have had a long tradition of volunteering for worthwhile endeavors within the New River Valley area, and we cannot think of a more deserving organization than Habitat for Humanity.”

Habitat for Humanity of the New River Valley builds homes for qualified home buyers in Montgomery, Giles, Floyd, Pulaski, Counties and Radford City. Habitat for Humanity of the New River Valley is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes.
