First place is on the line when RC hosts Generals

Chad Fisher of Roanoke College moves the ball down the field.

Coming into the week W&L was undefeated in the ODAC at 6-0. Roanoke was 6-1 with a loss to Lynchburg, and the Hornets were also 6-1 with a loss to Washington & Lee. So, unless there’s an upset along the way, the Maroons would throw the conference into a three-team tie at the top with a win Saturday.

The Maroons were 10-3 overall as they prepared to play at Bridgewater Wednesday. The Eagles were 2-4 in the ODAC and 6-7 overall, so Roanoke was a solid favorite in that game. Saturday’s game is the final regular season game for the Maroons, who had an easy time with Randolph-Macon last Saturday in a 17-6 win in Ashland.

With the win the Maroons extended their school record with their ninth consecutive 10 win season. Roanoke scored four goals in the first four and a half minutes of the game, getting tallies from Peter Lindley, two from Jason Sarro and one from IV Stucker.

Sarro finished with a team-high four goals. Cameron Linsley and Brendan Devane each had a hat trick, Stucker finished with two goals and three assists, while Jackson had a goal and two assists.

Ian Davies made six saves in 45 minutes of time between the pipes for RC. Burke McManus made two saves in 13 minutes of action.
