The Highlanders were swept by always strong Radford on Monday. The girls lost 3-0 and the boys lost 5-1 in a doubleheader in Radford.
The boys are now 2-5 overall. They lost to James River last week, 4-0, and on Monday Kaid Fuhrman had the only goal against Radford.
The girls are 2-3-2 after Monday’s loss, as Chynna Carmichael had 11 saves for the Highlanders in the loss. Last week at GHS the girls beat James River, 4-1, for their first win over the Knights in three yeaers.
Glenvar standout Kelci Horner opened the scoring two minutes into the match and scored a second time midway through the period.
James River came out of the break strong, penetrating the Glenvar defense and making good shooting opportunities, but Glenvar keeper Carmichael was in the right spot with good hands each time, totaling 25 saves in the game. Kiera Omberg and Kyleigh Drew each converted for Glenvar by the midpoint in the second half as the Highlanders went on to shut out the Knights.
