Mock airplane crash provides training for first responders

A plastic mannequin awaits treatment during a drill Saturday that simulated an airplane crash at the Virginia Tech Montgomery Executive Airport in Blacksburg.
Along with approximately 20 volunteer victims, first responders treated both inflatable and plastic mannequins at the mock airplane crash Saturday. About 45 first responders from various local agencies participated in the event.
Volunteer victims display their fake wounds. Volunteers said they arrived at 8 a.m. to receive the make-up for their “injuries.” The drill began at 10 a.m.
