The Craig County baseball team will play Montcalm High in Princeton, West Virigina on Friday in their final game before spring break. The Rockets are 1-4 on the season.

Jake Robertson attempts to pick off a runner at first.

Craig dropped a 10-0 game at Auburn on Monday, March 27. Dalton McPherson had the only hit for the Rockets and three players split time on the hill for Craig, Devin Hutchison, Jake Robertson and Dillon Kerns.

On Wednesday the Rockets played host to Radford and dropped a 14-3 decision. The Bobcats scored seven in the first inning off Craig pitcher Jesse Brizendine, but they weren’t all earned. Chad Ryan, Dakota Henderson and Robertson all saw time on the mound as well.

“We’re trying to get our pitchers as much work as possible, especially the young ones,” said Craig coach Brady Price.

Hutchison had a double and Brizendine, Christian Fisher and Kyle Sloss all had hits for the Rockets.

The loss dropped Craig to 1-4, and Tuesday’s game with Bath was postponed due to Bridgett Oliver’s funeral. It will be made up on April 28.

After Friday the Rockets are off until they host Parry McCluer on April 18.
