ROCKETS ARE FROZEN OUT OF OPENING GAMES, LOOK TO OPEN SPRING SPORTS SEASON THIS WEEK

The Craig County baseball and softball teams didn’t have much luck with the weather last week with spring sports scheduled to open. Everything was “frozen out” as temperatures dipped below the freezing mark with the wind chill factor making it seem even colder.

Craig was scheduled to play Auburn in baseball and softball on Tuesday, March 14, but both of those games were postponed. The softball team had a game scheduled for Thursday of last week at Radford, and that was also postponed. The varsity baseball game will be made up on March 31 and the varsity softball game at Radford is rescheduled for May 10, but there is still no rescheduled date for the softball game with Auburn.

The Rockets try again this week with spring officially here. The Rockets were scheduled to host Narrows on Monday in both baseball and softball, but results were too late for publication. Those were games of interest, as Narrows will be in the Pioneer District next year.

Today, Wednesday, the softball team will host Radford and the baseball team is at Radford for non-district games. On Friday, Eastern Montgomery will be here for a baseball game.

A busy schedule continues next Monday as both baseball and softball teams are at Auburn, and a week from today the Baseball team will host Radford while the track team will be at Eastern Montgomery for the first meet of the season.
