Glenvar Coach Teddy Moberg talks to the girls during a time out.

The Highlanders won at Radford last Wednesday, then beat James River at home on Friday in a couple Conference 38 affairs.

Glenvar took a 49-41 win over Radford. The Highlanders dominated the first three quarters, then held off a Bobcat charge in the fourth.

“We played well in spurts,” said coach Teddy Moberg. “We could have played better. We let them get back in the game but we played tough enough to win it.”

Glenvar had balanced scoring with Kiera Omberg hitting for 13 points and Abby Cairns with 11. Kyleigh Drew had eight, Brooke Rakes had seven and Danielle Bryant had six points.

On Friday the Highlanders improved to 7-5 on the season with a 56-26 win over the newest member of the Three Rivers District, James River. The Knights are winless and they were no match for Glenvar, as the Highlanders raced to an early 16-3 lead and never looked back.

Everyone who suited up scored for Glenvar and all 10 girls played in every quarter. Bryant had 11 and Cairns had 10 points to lead the team.

“That’s the kind of stuff we want,” said Moberg. “It’s not always possible, but if we can get everyone in the game and everyone scores, that’s a good win for us.”

Glenvar was scheduled to play at Auburn on Wednesday, and this Friday the Highlanders are at Giles.
