BOTETOURT – Assistant Botetourt County Administrator Spencer Suter announced today he is resigning to take the position of Rockbridge County Administrator on October 1.

Suter has worked for Botetourt County for 16 years, starting in September 1996 as the County’s first 911/GIS Coordinator who was tasked with implementing the first 911 emergency communications system for Botetourt.

Over time, and in addition to his first and current positions, he has served as GIS/Communications Manager, Emergency Services Manager, and Assistant to the County Administrator.

During his tenure he helped lead the development of the Botetourt’s Emergency Services Department in collaboration with the volunteer fire and rescue agencies.

“Spencer has contributed greatly to the success of Botetourt County and we are grateful for his service to our community,” Botetourt County Administrator Kathleen Guzi said. His last day with Botetourt will be in late September.

Suter and his family live in Rockbridge County.
