Feazell got the big buck early last November while bow hunting on private property on Tinker Mountain.

Matt Knox, the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries deer biologist, scored Feazell’s buck on the Pope & Young archery scale. The 22-point buck racked up 221 2/8 points. The previous Virginia Pope & Young non-typical record was taken in 2006 in Henry County and scored 197 3/8 points.

Feazell and his buck will be among the featured exhibitors at the Virginia Outdoor Sportsman Show in Mechanicsville August 13-15. The 27th annual show will be held at the ShowPlace and includes hunting seminars, contests and vendor displays where thousand of outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen will be exposed to the Botetourt County deer.

The John Feazell Buck had 22 scoreable points (11 on each side), had a tip-to-tip spread of 14 4/8 inches, the widest spread was 24 4/8 inches and an inside spread of 19 3/8 inches. The main beams are 26 68 and 26 0/8 inches long.

It scored 189 2/8 typical points and another 38 3/8 non-typical.
