James River High School students are getting a reputation as great Santas.

The school again has proven its generosity by winning the Toy Mountain campaign among area high schools to collect toys for the Marine Corps Toys For Tots Christmas program.

On hand for the delivery were two Marines, Star Country DJ Robynn Jaymes and JRHS students Danielle Seeman, Kendyl Kelly, Jessica Perry and Shannon Kessler.

JRHS students collected 1,363 toys during the Toy Mountain campaign that is sponsored by radio station 94.9 Star Country. Some JRHS Key Club members helped deliver the toys on a recent Saturday.

The Key Club under teacher Lori Sibley’s guidance sponsors the effort at JRHS. Sibley said cheerleading coach and Monogram Club sponsor Donna Cox also helped “a lot…as will as all of the faculty, staff and students!”

JRHS students donated an average of 2.8 toys per student. The closest other school donated 2.1 toys per student. “We also bought five bikes, and Breckinridge Elementary teachers contributed toys also, Sibley said.

For their efforts, the students will have a free concert with country singer Justin Moore.
