Craig-Botetourt Electric Cooperative celebrated 90 years of service while hosting its 89th Annual Meeting of the Membership earlier this month.
The event brought together cooperative members, employees and board members to reflect on the organization’s history and recognize achievements from the past year.
Founded in 1936, Craig-Botetourt Electric Cooperative has provided electric service throughout its territory while supporting local growth and community development. The anniversary celebration highlighted the cooperative’s long-standing commitment to delivering reliable electricity and improving quality of life for its members.
Attendees enjoyed food, fellowship and entertainment during the meeting. Director of Operations Troy Hall prepared hot dogs for those in attendance, while Tim Rowlett provided musical entertainment.
The cooperative also recognized its 2026 Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives scholarship recipients. Honorees included Ryder Ward, Keira Crawford, Claire Morris, Ian Morris and Cole Fogus.
Years-of-service awards were presented to several employees for their dedication to the cooperative. Chief Executive Officer Jeff Ahearn was recognized for 10 years of service, while Journeyman Lineman Colton Ratliff and Director of Information Technology John Storey were honored for five years of service each.
Members received updates on the cooperative’s accomplishments during the past year and learned about projects currently underway, including the Bee Online Advantage expansion in Alleghany County. The meeting also included opportunities for members to win bill credits.
Cooperative officials thanked members, employees and the board of directors for their contributions to the organization’s success and continued service to the communities it serves.
