Darrell Wayne Frango, born December 22, 1964, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle against brain cancer and opened his eyes to be greeted into God’s loving arms on Thursday, March 26, 2026. Darrell was preceded in death by his fraternal grandparents, Tony and Pearl Frango, his paternal grandparents, Russell Sr and Alice Elmore, his father, Louie Wayne Frango and his stepfather, Douglas Davis; and sister-in-law Sharon Frango.

Left to cherish his memory, are his mother and wonderful caretaker, Barbara Davis, daughter, Cierra McDaniel (Shane), granddaughters Aria and Hayzley, brother Darren Frango (Cindy), sisters Angie Allen (Mike) and Debbie Boitnotte (David). Numerous nieces and nephews, Cyndy Frango, Ashley Healey (Nathan), Emily Tynan (Bryson), Jacob King (Laurel), Sarah Collins (Ryan), Joshua Allen (Ava), Justin Boitnotte (Brooklyn) and Jenna Boitnotte (Grant). Great nephews and nieces, McKenna Freeman, Crew, Beckham and Navy Healey and Rhett King. Great Aunt and Uncle, James and Betty Dudding. Many cousins and especially special and devoted cousins Joey and Kathy Reich. Special friends James, Debbie and Maggie Thomas, George and Lotus Bowles, Rodney Price (Melanie) and Dana Nelson.

Darrell loved his family, friends and his church family very deeply. Darrell’s life was a testimony to family, friends and his devotion to God. Throughout his illness, he wanted to go to church every Sunday. Even though he could not attend, he would watch services on tv. He was always so proud of his family and friends, and he never met a stranger. Darrell worked for the Craig County Public School system for about 28 years; where he loved the kids and made many special friends like Sherry Crowder; who always took good care of him. During the last few years, Darrell worked at Catawba Hospital and enjoyed his time there and made many friends.

The family would like to thank Wake Forest Cancer Center (Dr. Lesser, Dr. Crammer, Kathy, Jill, the best hugger – Ellie and all those that we were in contact with him. Darrell not only received the best care, but we all gained new family and friends. We would also like to thank Amedisys Home Health Care (Marlene Vandyke and Carmalitta King) for taking such good care of Darrell and their genuine kindness. Thanks to all the community, churches, family and friends that have supported Darrell and for all the prayers that he and the family have received.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 30, 2026, at Grace Assembly of God Church, Catawba, VA. Interment will follow at Huffman Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Paitsel Funeral Home.
