Retired Lt. Colonel Richard “Rich” Martindell was ordained as a deacon on Sunday, Jan. 4 at Craig Valley Baptist Church in New Castle. Deacon Martindell and his wife Anita have been members at CVBC for several years and have faithfully served the church family in a number of roles throughout the years.

Along with Deacon Martindell’s ordination, Deacon William “Bill” Jennings return to the Deacon leadership team in active status. Deacon Jennings is a retired Sergeant with the Virginia State police and formerly served as a deacon at the church.

Other current members of the Deacon team include Chairman Mark Walker, Rob Borland, and Rick “Zeke” Francisco. Also participating was retiring Deacon Barry Francisco. Pastor Scott Gabrielson led the service with a message on the importance of Biblical leadership, which can be heard on the newly redesigned church website “podcast page” at CraigValleyBaptist.com. At the conclusion of the service Deacon Martindell was presented with a gift of a leather Thompson chain reference Bible, then the service concluded with Holy Communion.
