The Salem VA Health Care System has announced the celebration of its 90th anniversary, marking nearly a century of dedicated service to local veterans. The center will host a commemorative event on October 18 in the auditorium from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Veterans, employees and members of the community are invited to reflect on the rich history and significant accomplishments of the facility since its establishment on October 19, 1934.
Since opening its doors 90 years ago, the Salem VAHCS, comprised of the Salem VA medical center and five VA Clinics, has been committed to providing high-quality healthcare services to veterans in the Southwest Virginia region. “With a focus on delivering compassionate, patient-centered care, the Salem VAHCS has expanded its range of services to include mental health support, rehabilitation, and advanced specialty care, adapting to the evolving needs of the veteran community over the decades,” according to the system.
This anniversary event will feature historical retrospective displays showcasing the evolution of the health care system and its impact on the veteran community. Light refreshments and cake will be served.
