Genevieve Carlotta Foster Hannah, 82, affectionally known as “GIGI”, of the Bradshaw area of Salem, was surrounded by her family when she went home to be with her Lord on September 12, 2024. She was born on June 28, 1942, to the late Virginia Paitsel and James Everett Foster.
Genevieve worked for Roanoke County Schools for approximately 25 years as a nutrition assistant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Kenneth Ray Hannah; sister, Barbara Huffman; brother, Jimmy Foster; and stepbrother, James Paitsel, Sr.
Left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Debbie Hannah; sons, Carl Hannah (Kathy) and Dale Hannah; grandchildren, Kenny Wayne and Josh Kendall, Corey and April Hannah, Zachary and Jessica Hannah; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Jeanette Huffman. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends, including her neighbor, Joe Giles who checked on her frequently while she was still at home.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Berkshire Health and Rehabilitation Center and Good Samaritan Hospice for their excellent care.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024, at the Paitsel Funeral Home with Pastor Don Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Crawford Cemetery, located at Crossroads Christian Church. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home
