Three items will be raffled by the Craig County Historical Society at the 2024 Fall Festival on Oct. 12.
All items have been donated, allowing 100% of the proceeds of ticket sales to be used for a payment of the society’s current bank note on the Clifton Store building.
The first drawing will be a treasure box weighing approximately five pounds. Contents of the box are guaranteed to be a brick doorstop featuring a photo of the Old Brick Hotel and over $500 in cash.
The second drawing is a one-night stay for two in the Peach Room at the Lemon Hotel in Paint Bank. This is a second-floor room with a king size bed, walk-in shower and access to a side porch with mountain views. Winners will enjoy a gourmet breakfast in the Lemon’s Dining Room.
The third drawing is a 60” x 80” hand made quilt featuring flowers of the 50 states and a border of Virginia’s flower, the Dogwood. The quilt is on display in the Genealogy Library.
This item was made and given by Ruth Lazott, Historical Society member from Oregon, whose parents migrated from Craig County to Oregon in the early 1900’s.
Tickets are available for sale every Friday afternoon at the Genealogy Library at the Old Brick Hotel. In addition, they will be sold at the Farmers Market and on the porch of the Old Brick Hotel on the morning of July 4 following the Independence Day Parade. The society also expects to sell fried apple pies and ham biscuits on the hotel porch, where seating in the shade is available.
