The All-Pioneer District teams were recently announced and Craig County had players on the softball, baseball and soccer teams.
The Rockets had four girls make the All-Pioneer District softball first team, and three are underclassmen. Senior Lily Hutchison, who caught for the Rockets, was named as an “at large” player. Junior Hayleigh Flowers was named first team in the outfield while two sophomores also made first team, Kammie Fisher at pitcher and Jenna Boitnotte at third base.
Karly Potter, a senior firstbaseman for Craig, was named second team All-Pioneer “at large.” The Rockets also had two girls named “Honorable Mention,” senior Randalynn Taylor and sophomore Daileigh Donithan.
Eastern Montgomery had six girls on the first team, including Pitcher of the Year Mary Miller. Payton Emoore of Parry McCluer, a shortstop, was named Player of the Year and Blues’ coach Troy Clark was named the Pioneer District Coach of the Year.
The Rockets had no one named to the first team in baseball but had four boys on the second team. Seniors selected were Matthew Lucas at pitcher, Hayden Reynolds at second base and Drew Duncan at large. Also named to the second team was sophomore Luke Potter at catcher.
Craig had two boys deemed Honorable Mention, both underclassmen. Junior outfielder Jaycob Wolfe and sophomore thirdbaseman Joseph Charette both made the list.
Narrows had the most boys make first team in baseball with six selections, followed by Parry McCluer with four, East Mont with three and Highland County with one. Carson Crigger of Narrows, a thirdbaseman, was named Player of the Year and Chris Helvey of the Green Wave is the Pioneer Coach of the Year.
In soccer two Rockets made the All-Pioneer second team. Isaiah Nichols, a sophomore, was named at forward and junior Colby Wolfe was named to the defense. Craig also had five players, all underclassmen, named Honorable Mention. Included are junior Tanner Owen, sophomore Elijah Green and freshmen Desiree Will, Sean Villar and Aiden Crawford.
Eastern Montgomery dominated the All-Pioneer soccer first team with eight selections, followed by Bath County with five and Narrows with three. Junior Talan Bruce of East Mont is the Pioneer District Player of the Year and Jay Smith of Narrows was named Coach of the Year.
The All-Region 1C team is being selected this week. Look for Craig players who made the team in next week’s New Castle Record sports section.
