The Craig County softball team picked up a pair of runs last week when Narrows came to town. The Rockets won a previously suspended game, then beat the Green Wave in a regularly scheduled game in New Castle.
When the two first met in Narrows the game was suspended due to darkness and picked up where it left off. Craig ended up winning that one 11-3 as Kammie Fisher struck out 17 batters while giving up just three hits and no earned runs.
In the regular game the Rockets won 14-3 in five innings. Kammie had 11 strikeouts in this one, allowing four hits and two earned runs.
Lily Hutchison went two-for-three with an in the park home run and four RBIs in this game. Hayleigh Flowers, Karly Potter and Kallie Fisher also added multiple hits and RBIs. Layla Dooley ended the game with a walk off single that scored two runs.
“Our hitting was much improved,” said coach Elaina Wolfe-Carper. “Everyone got the bat on the ball really well last week, which I’m hopeful will carry into this week.”
The Rockets were scheduled to play at Eastern Montgomery on Tuesday and at Parry McCluer on Thursday of this week. Next Tuesday, May 7th, they wrap up the regular season when they host Giles for a doubleheader.
