This game was about as close as you can get. The Rockets led 13-7 after the first quarter but were outscored 17-11 in the second as the Mustangs tied the game at 24-24 at intermission. East Mont led 35-34 after three quarters and had a three point lead late in the game when Craig’s Hayden Reynolds nailed a three to tie the score at 48-48. The Mustangs then won the game when a foul was called with about a second on the clock and theyconverted both shots for the win, ending Craig’s season just short of making the regional for the third year in a row.
Parry McCluer ended up winning the tournament, defeating Narrows in the final, 74-61. Bath County beat East Mont in the consolation game, 63-57, and all four advanced to this week’s Region 1C tournament.
The loss left the Rockets with a 5-15 record on the season.
