The Craig-Botetourt Electric Cooperative has announced that the application period will open Feb.1 for its annual scholastic scholarship competition.

A combination of weighted criteria is used in the selection process: 40% financial need; 40% academic achievement; and 20% personal statement.

Funds can be applied towards tuition, student fees, room and board, or textbooks.

Any high school or home-schooled senior graduating in spring 2024 whose primary residence is served by the Craig-Botetourt Electric Cooperative, is eligible to apply for a scholarship to be applied to a two- or four-year college or trade school.

An applicant must be entering his or her first semester at a post-secondary or technical/trade school in the fall of 2024.

Two Craig County High School students, Jodie Snyder and Tyler Van Dyke, were named as 2023 scholarship recipients.

The Craig-Botetourt Electric Cooperative serves the rural section of seven counties in Western Virginia and West Virginia, including Craig County.

Questions about donations and the application process should be directed to scholarship@vmdaec.com. Applications will be accepted until April 1.6It is19

The electric cooperative is headquartered on Craigs Creek Road in New Castle. It is part of a larger system of 15 locally owned electric cooperatives in Virginia, Maryland and Delaware, serving nearly 2 million people.ek Road
