Bears have become a nuisance in the town of New Castle and surrounding streets. Two bears have eaten the entire corn crop of the Dudding family, emptied the freezer and refrigerator, as well as other families complaining about their gardens being destroyed and freezers/refrigerators being emptied. Ammonia, bleach, noise, rubber bullets and even hound dogs chasing them away have not yet kept them away on Holcombe Avenue and Marshall Street, as they come back within the hour. Residents are concerned about what they’ll attack next once the gardens are gone. “I can’t wait for bear season to come in!” one resident shared. “We aren’t allowed to kill them, and the warden can’t do anything; it is a little absurd if you ask me.” Since this photo was taken, all the corn has now been depleted by the bears.
