The Craig County soccer team will have their first home match of the season this Friday when the Rockets host Buffalo Gap at Mitchell Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 6 pm.
The Rockets had their season debut last week against an Eastern Montgomery team that is expected to be a state contender. Craig trailed 6-0 at the half and lost 10-0 in a match that could have been worse if not for some excellent saves by Austin Hickson in the goal.
In addition to keeper Hickson, this year’s team includes Alex Drake, Bryce Drake, Skyler Rodrigues, Ava Greenway, Chris Hunter, Quinn Caldwell, Sarah Hickson, Tanner Owens, Sean Cady, Colby Wolfe, Jordyn Price, Montana Stein, Claire Morris, Cheyenne Bell and Isaiah Nichols. Former Craig soccer standout Dalton Henderson is the first year coach.
The Rockets were scheduled to play at Narrows Tuesday, but results were too late for publication.
