On February 24, the Craig County Sheriff’s Office, in connection with the Alleghany Highlands Regional Drug and Gang Task Force (AHRDGTF), went before the Craig County Circuit Court Grand Jury to present 37 direct indictments, which involved 11 defendants, for drug offenses that occurred in Craig County.
The AHRDGTF is comprised of the Craig County Sheriff’s Office, the Virginia State Police, the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office and the Bath County Sheriff’s Office.
Sherriff Trevor Craddock shared that 37 true bills were returned by the Grand Jury in reference to these indictments.
The charges were as follows:
- Defendant #1 – one count Distribution of Oxycodone, one count Conspiracy to Distribute Oxycodone, two counts Distribution of Methamphetamine, three counts of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine
- Defendant #2- one count of Distribution of Oxycodone, one count of Conspiracy to Distribute Oxycodone, three counts of Distribution of Methamphetamine, three counts of conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine
- Defendant #3 – one count Distribution of Oxycodone, one count of Conspiracy to Distribute Oxycodone, three counts of Distribution of Methamphetamine, three counts of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine
- Defendant #4 – two counts of Distribution of Methamphetamine, one count of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine
- Defendant #5 – one count of Distribution of Methamphetamine, one count of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine
- Defendant #6 – one count of Possession of Schedule Two Drug, one count Possession of Schedule Three Drug
- Defendant #7 – one count of Possession of Schedule Two Drug, one count possession of Schedule Three Drug
- Defendant #8 – one count of Possession of Marijuana
- Defendant #9 – one count of Possession of Marijuana
- Defendant #10 – one count of Possession of Marijuana
- Defendant #11 – one count of Possession of Marijuana, one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
There were a total of 26 Craig County General District Court/Craig County Juvenile District Court, Indictments. Twenty-three of these indictments were charges that the Craig County Sheriff’s Office brought before the lower court system.
They were:
- Defendant #1 – one count Petty Larceny Subsequent Offense
- Defendant #2 – one count Driving Revoked, one count Possession of Methamphetamine, two counts of forging a public document
- Defendant #3 – one count of Possession of Schedule one/two Cocaine
- Defendant #4 – one count of Distribution of Methamphetamine, one count of Fail to Appear
- Defendant #5 – two counts of Grand Larceny, one count of Destruction of Property, one count of Possession of Schedule one/two Methamphetamine
- Defendant #6 – one count of Strangulation, two counts of Assault and Battery of a Family or Household Member
- Defendant #7 – two counts of Malicious Wounding, one count of Point or Brandishing a Firearm
- Defendant #8 – one count of Driving Under the Influence, one count of Refusal to take a Breath Test, one count of Destruction of Property less than $1,000, two counts of Assault and Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer
The Craig County Sheriff’s Office shared that they want the citizens of the County to know that “we are doing everything in our power to make sure that you remain safe.”
