Last year, Dorcas Martin and some friends started an event which they are hoping to keep alive, called, Hands Across Craig County for Christ.

The Second Annual gathering will be held on Sunday, September 8, at the Craig Valley Baptist Church Picnic Shelter on Highway 615 at 1 p.m. “It’s a calling from God’s heart,” explained one local.

The purpose is to bring Craig County together, regardless of denomination, in agreement for God to bless, show favor and protect the community, as well as prayer for an awakening of standing up for what is God’s will and purpose for His people.

“We need to keep being as one and keep Christ’s name in the center to combat the evil that is going on in our world today,” Martin said.

There will be songs of praise, worship and scripture readings.

Everyone is encouraged to bring their favorite covered dish for a potluck luncheon and a lawn chair and TV tray to eat on.

The final planning meeting will be held on August 26 at Craig Valley Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

“We hope that each church can send a representative to the meeting, who can then take pertinent information back to their home church,” Martin said.

The goal is to have the event begin at the individual churches during their Sunday morning services, and then continue with the potluck luncheon.

If anyone needs information, they may contact Dorcas Martin at (540) 864-5040 or through Facebook.

“Let’s try and exceed last year’s turnout and hope for better weather than we had last year,” Martin said. “Let’s let our voices ring out to our Heavenly Father.”
