There have been many exciting events in Craig County over the years. Among the most popular are the Demolition Derbies in part to the large crowds they attract. On Saturday, August 25, a different ‘demolition’ will hit the county.
Robin Nobles, Director of Club Camp Mitchell (CCM), has organized an event that’s gotten a lot of people talking in Craig – a wrestling event! Two worldwide wrestling champs, David Fink “Col. Spud Wade” and Sheik Akbar from Arabia, will be putting their talents on full display at Camp Mitchell.
Nobles is very excited about the upcoming event. Ed Maxey Jr., the Sole Proprietor of the International Wrestling Coalition, organized the event to benefit Club Camp Mitchell, which will receive 30 percent of the ticket sales to help with youth activities.
“The International Wrestling Coalition is proud to bring ‘Old Fashion Wrestling’ back to the community of Craig County,” Maxey said. “Wrestling the way you like it; the way it used to be.”
Food and drinks will be available at the door and all proceeds will go on to benefit CCM.
Hometown hero David Fink a.k.a. Col. Spud Wade will take on Sheik Akbar from Saudi Arabia for the U.S. Championship in the main event.
“The semi-main event has Shiek’s manager Bronco Barnett offering a Bounty on Frank ‘The Tank’ Parker which ‘DirtyWork’ Drake Tungsten will attempt to collect the bounty money,” Nobles said.
There will be some tag team action as Shawn and Robbie “Cruz Control” Cruz takes on “The Tye Dye Guy” Josh Valen and his partner “Irish Bulldog” J.R. Martin.
The evening will also showcase some additional matches: Aubrey Wright (vs.) Jimi Love, Krazy Karl and the family (vs.) Crash Cassidy and JPJ as he defends his Virginia Commonwealth Championship in a three-way match against Bobby Yela and “Dragon” Scott Lee. The opening match will feature Jeff “Simple Man” Flowers versus Assassin #2.
Tickets will be on sale at the door; $10 for adults and $5 for children 6-12. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. “It will be first come, first serve seating,” Nobles said.
Fans will get an opportunity to meet the wrestlers before the 7 p.m. anticipated bell time.
“They will have their autographed pictures available for purchase and fans can also take pictures with their personal phones,” Nobles notes. “There will also be a meet and greet time during intermission. You don’t want to miss this!”
“We are doing this fundraiser to raise money for Club Camp Mitchell and their youth activities,” Maxey said. “Children of today are our leaders of tomorrow.”
