It was just the second game for the Craig County baseball team when the Rockets played host to Parry McCluer last week, and the visiting Blues took a 7-3 win in New Castle.
“It was just our second game of the season, and it was the ninth game for Parry McCluer,” said Craig coach Brady Price. “I don’t know how they got that many in with all the bad weather we’ve had.”
Three pitchers split time on the mound for the Rockets, Dakota Henderson, Devin Hutchison and Jesse Brizendine. Henderson pitched the first three innings and struck out four, Hutchison went three innings and Brizendine struck out the side in the top of the seventh.
The Rockets hit the ball pretty well. Hutchison and Dalton McPherson had two hits each while Jakob Jones drove in two runs.
The loss dropped the Rockets to 0-2 on the season and Craig was scheduled to play at Eastern Montgomery on Tuesday. Highland was scheduled for Thursday but the Rams couldn’t get enough boys to field a team, so Craig’s next game will be at Narrows next Tuesday.
